All in a morning..

Ok, first I know I blog a lot when I am home. I like being home! :) Kennedy has been on a role this morning with making us laugh. I feel the need to share a few.

She wakes up and gets out of her bed (she does that on her own now) and smiles and says so proudly, "Look Mommy, I wake up!"

Greg is giving me a hug she runs around to us and says, "What's going on here?"

We are eating breakfast and she says to Whit, "Look Whit I put pancakes on your head, ok?"

She then asks me, "Mommy, where is Santa? At the mall?" I inform her that he went home to the north pole and is no longer at the mall. She says, "Oh, Santa at home. Ok!"

Happy New Year's Eve!

I have feet?

My sweet Whit has made a new discovery! He has found his feet! :) I think it is so sweet when they suddenly realize they have feet. You can see the look of amazement in his eyes. Can you imagine being excited you have feet? Although I was super excited to see my feet again after I had Kennedy. Maybe that's how he feels!

And I just needed to document this look. I cannot describe fully how it makes you feel but there is just a way about Whit's little looks. He has a lot of love behind his smiles. He will just gaze into my eyes and with all his heart he is telling me he loves me. It is hard to describe but I think these two pics captured it a little. This little boy appreciates being loved more than the average baby I think. He loves to be talked to and oohhed over. What a sweet boy!

The stats are in...

We went to the doctor today for a combo visit. I might never do that again. At one point everyone in the room was crying (at least those under 2) and I felt like crying! It is very hard to have a conversation with a doctor with two screaming children. And I had Greg there to help. I would NEVER attempt that alone. I thought it would be easier to knock it out together but I don't suggest it for my fellow friends with two small children. Anyways....Kennedy weighed in at 27.4 pounds. That would be 5 pounds more than I did at that age. I was a slight runt! :) She was 32 1/2 inches tall. She did get diagnosed with an ear infection at her well child visit. I knew she had something so we did a combo well baby/sick baby visit. Whit weighed in at 15 lbs 11.5 ounces. He has gained a pound in a month. He was 26 1/2 inches long. He was diagnosed with eczema. It was really bad over Christmas and was still bad today so we took him in. Poor thing! So all in all my day has been filled with doctor visits and screaming children. That is a nice day off right? :) At least we are all medicated and on our way to good health. Happy Monday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY KENNEDY!

Two years ago today I first looked into the eyes of my daughter. This day will always be so special to me. I will never forget looking at her for the first time and thinking, "This is what you look like?" I was holding a little Greg! :) I used to wonder what it would be like to hold my child for the first time. I dreamed and dreamed of what I would say to her that day. And I don't think I had any words, I just held her. I am thankful forever for that gift. I finally got to hold my child in my arms.

She's grown up so much in the past two years. She's been through a lot of change too poor thing! She only got a year and half as an only child and really only 10 months of just the 3 of us! She has adjusted well and I think she appreciates it! She's spending her birthday sick poor baby! She had a 102 fever last night and is still running a low temp today. We are going to watch lots of movies and take naps today! :) Before she got sick, we went over to the island for her two year old photo shoot. MeMe and I love the beach and I think we have rubbed off on Kennedy. It truly is one of the greatest places in the world, no matter what time of year it is. Life is just simpler there. It was a pretty day and believe it or not, you didn't even need shoes in December! I know these are a lot of pictures but she is so precious I couldn't pick. (I did narrow it down from like 100 pictures) The first picture is for me. Those arms and smile are to run to me. I do so love this child...

At two years
*You are a chatter box!! I think you talk in your sleep. You love to talk about anything and the things you say are hilarious!
*Today you are telling everyone Happy Birthday! I think that Merry Christmas was to everyone so you feel the need to tell me, dada and Whit Happy Birthday today. So polite!
*You love to pretend. You cook for us, talk on the phone, dance like a ballerina....the list goes on and on
*You survive on macaroni and mashed potatoes. I don't think you would be alive if these foods did not exist.
*You love Curious George. (books, the TV show, but not a stuffed one, those scare you!)
*You love to go! You love the park, the zoo, Petco (like the zoo to you), the beach, church....
* You are such a happy little girl!

My Kennedy,
My mom always said a daughter is special. I can see now how special. You have come into our lives and we truly will never be the same. Your laugh is infectious, your smile is contagious and you are our joy. I hope you always know how much I love you. I want you to grow up to be a strong and independent young woman. I look forward to watching you grow through the years and become who you are to be. I hate how fast time flies by and I know all too soon I'll be looking back on these years wondering where they went and you'll just be flying out the door. I'll hold on to you my Kennedy until I have to let you go. I'll hold to every hug, kiss and smile I can get. I'll cherish it because God has given me these years to love you. And I am forever thankful for each day we have together. Happy 2nd birthday my big girl!

Merry Christmas!

We had a nice and BUSY Christmas this year. We finished our 4th Christmas on Friday. Greg and I really need to go see that movie! :) Actually now that I think of it we had 5 Christmases! Kennedy really enjoyed it this year. She loved opening presents, stayed up until 11 on Christmas Eve for the party, woke up and enjoyed Santa and played all day! Whit got a jumperoo just like Kennedy had! To my surprise he was so ready for it and LOVED it! It was sweet to see him excited on Christmas morning! Santa brought Kennedy a kitchen and she spent the morning cooking for us. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the past few days. I had so many! And today is my Kennedy's 2nd birthday! We will be spending it watching movies...she has a 102 fever bless her heart!

She loved opening presents!

Me and my babies!

Whit and DaDa....I love this one!

And sweet Whit...he is getting good at leaning and sitting for just a second. Nowhere near sitting up but it is good for a quick photo shoot! He is such a sweet boy!

She loved her new kitchen!! And I know, I know, the hair is out of control. It is better with a bow, but who needs a bow Christmas morning right?

A few Christmas thoughts

Merry Christmas Eve! Kennedy and I just got home from the grocery store and everyone is asleep around here! I tucked her in and the night before Christmas poem went off in my head. All my children are all snug in their beds (including Greg: He is actually tucked into the couch under a hot pink blanket) where I am sure they are dreaming of sugarplums! We went to the mall to see Santa. I wanted Kennedy to be there to see Whit be so brave and sit with Santa. :) She refused to sit with him. We didn't push her. Whit did enjoy Santa. The picture they took was so cute. He was smiling away. Then he turned and actually looked at who was holding him and that made him even more happy! I think he liked the beard. Santa told Whit to make sure he was extra good! He also told Whit to be good next year because he probably won't like him then! This must be an experienced Santa!

And for those of you who don't know the Prosser/Olliff history here is a shortened version for you. The grandma and grandpa Prosser/Olliff's were close friends. They had Greg and Chad and of course they grew up to be great friends. Then along came Drew and Courtney and they too were destined for each other. Then the boys got married to GREAT women and we became great friends. They must have good taste right? That is one reason why it is so special that Kennedy and Drew are so close and we hope the same for Whit and Lorelei. It all started back with the original four and look how we have grown! We are quite a crowd now! This is a pic of all of us last night at the Prosser/Olliff Christmas party (yes we have this every year!)

May you all have a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy your families and count your many blessings. I know I will!

This Christmas...

What's different about this Christmas you might ask? Well for starters this is the first year in the past two Christmases that I am NOT pregnant! That is a crazy fact if you ask me! This is also my little Whit's first Christmas and I am so excited to have both my children here. I love my children, I am just not a big fan of being pregnant! I need a break from that for a while! :) Take time to enjoy your family this year. I am going to enjoy my little ones! Here is a pic of Whit's first tree! You know he was super excited about that!

The Happy Birthday Song

All your life you hear this song many times of year. Sometimes you sing it for a friend. Once a year you get the song sung to you. I will never forget little Drew Prosser's first birthday when the room full of people sang Happy Birthday to that sweet baby who had no clue it was for him. I cried. (I cry a lot) Then my precious Kennedy turned one and we sang that same old song to her. All my life it has just been a song but now having my children it brings a new meaning. I remember singing it to Kennedy for the first time and her little innocent eyes just looking around at everyone. And this year again she just looked at everyone as they sang. She can also join in and sing every word this year! It means more to me that just wishing them a happy day. I waited so long to have a baby to sing to. I wanted and longed for that sweet baby that I didn't imagine the life after she was no longer one. Each year I will sing my sweet baby Happy Birthday. And I might cry every year. I'll won't cry because she's another year older. I'll cry because I am grateful. I am grateful for another year I got to spend with her. God gave me such a precious Christmas gift two years ago. I sometimes think it will be hard on her to have a Christmas birthday. But what better time in the year to celebrate my miracle than the time we celebrate our one true miracle in Jesus Christ! December is all about Jesus and Kennedy around the Olliff house! My sweet Kennedy, I am so proud to be your mommy. I will forever be grateful for having you in my life. Happy "almost" Birthday! You still have a few more days of 1!!!

Kennedy's gingerbread party!!

We had Kennedy's big 2 year old party on Saturday! She had tons of fun! I would like to say a big thanks to Sarah for making a FABULOUS cake for her! And thank you to all the mommy's and daddy's out there for taking the time to bring your sweet little ones to play with Kennedy. She had so much fun! Here are a few pictures!

Little Whitfield

Such a big name for such a small boy! I love my little Whitfield! Today Whit turned 5 months old! He was not feeling so photogenic tonight. I took about 50 pictures and these were the only ones I was happy with. He spit up all over his outfit when we got home (He NEVER spits up). I went to throw a onesie on him and discovered I had none to fit him. Then I remembered Kennedy had this little Christmas one last year. I put it on him and it fit!! WHAT?!! It was a little big but it fit. In case you didn't know they are 18 months apart not a year. Crazy huh?
At 5 Months

*You are SO happy! You smile at us and laugh everyday. You love to see us in the morning and you even take time from eating to just look at me and smile.
* You sleep through the night!!! I mean officially like I say goodnight to you at 7:15ish and most nights I don't see you until I have to wake you up at 6:30 to eat before school. It is WONDERFUL!
*I will still say dinner time is your favorite time of day. You love to have all your favorite people in one place. You sit in my lap and just grin at your Daddy and sister. One night Chad was over and you couldn't find your daddy so you starting crying really hard! Then he started talking to you and you stopped! It melted that DaDa's heart. :)
*You can now play with toys! This is a great world for you. You get so excited and play and play. Maybe Santa will bring you some new ones!
*You love your big sister. You get a kiss every morning from her.

A son is something so special. I knew in my heart I longed for a girl to dress up but never did I expect the love a little boy gives his mommy. One look from you and I am teary. I can already see a genuine love and appreciation from you. Maybe you are going to grow up and be sweet like that daddy of yours. I am enjoying all these small steps you are taking my sweet Whit. I know it will fly by. It already has. I love every minute of your sweet babyhood. I am constantly amazed at how a mother's heart can grow. You've found your place here sweet Whit. You've joined our family and now we can't imagine life without you. You are the piece we were missing. We love you so much!

Me and my bro's

My mom just posted this pic and I thought it was time to post a picture of something other than my kids! :) I am ALWAYS the one who wants a picture of the three of us together. Maybe its being the only girl or my middle child complex. It is a rare occasion when we can all get together like this. I have always loved having two siblings. I say it is nice to have a spare. Blake is good for some things and surprise surprise Patrick is good for some things! Ha! Greg says we are done with two kids but how can you just have one sibling? What do you do if you need to talk to the other and they don't exist? This is a fight I will get to in a few years I guess! And in case you are wondering what my sweet Whit will look like in 22 years or 34 years take a look at both sides of me. He is going to be a nice looking young man isn't he? My bro's are cute aren't they?

Say NO to Santa!

We went to a Santa party today and it goes like this....Santa comes in and the boys and girls all get excited and Kennedy tries to hide under the table! He had gifts for each child there so when he said her name she went up to him to get it...halfway there she is screaming and I am holding Whit so I had to console her with my leg and my spare arm. This pic was taken before Santa showed up but do you really think she was already doubting she would have fun? She did love the cookies and all the activities. She just hated Santa! The funny thing is all the way home she talked about how she loved Santa and Santa got her a present. She even lied and said she sat in his lap! Crazy girl!
And this is me trying to be creative and it did not work. First of all I bought a cute Santa hat for Whit because I realize this will be the only year I can make him wear something like that without an opinion about it. I forgot my children have HUGE heads. It doesn't even fit over his head! I also really need to take a photography class. I was going to and then I got pregnant with Whit. I ran out of energy to do that. Going from one child to two is not doubling my work.....more like quadrupling it! I do like this picture because it shows how skinny our little man is! Long and lean....this boy needs some meat on his bones! Kennedy so never looked like this.

Thanks SuSu and Poppa!

The swing set is done! Kennedy calls it her playground. She was super excited about it yesterday when we finally braved the cold to go out and play for a few minutes! Whit also got to swing for the first time. He seemed to like it. He just smiled at me! I seriously CANNOT believe my little baby is old enough to swing. He is growing up too fast! Thanks SuSu and Poppa!

The old married couple

Drew is over today while his parents are the hospital with Lorelei. She is doing better. They still don't know what it is and I know that is frustrating. They are not coming home today as we all hoped but hopefully they will soon. Keep that sweet baby in your prayers that she will continue to get better.

On a lighter note I spent the morning with the kiddos and we had fun! Drew and Kennedy ran some errands with me and we fit in a little fun for them at Books a Million and Petco. We go to Petco like it is the zoo. Seriously, we'll just go to look at the animals and stay for 3o minutes or so. They had fun. They walked around holding hands and talking to the animals. I did get asked if they were twins a couple of times. I should have just said yes! Nap time came around and I got the bright idea to put them in K's bed together. To my surprise it worked! I did have to go in a few times to stop a fight and once to make Kennedy stop standing up in the bed. I think she talked Drew to sleep! They are currently fast asleep and I wish, wish, wish, I could sneak in for a picture but I think it will wake them up. I guess it will be just a memory for my heart....they are so cute in there together. They seriously look like an old married couple. So here they are at the beginning of their nap. I do love these babies!

A little prayerful today

You have those type of friends that are family more than friends. I can list off a handful or so of those type of friends. And when something happens to them it hurts you to the bottom of your soul like it would if it were yourself. That's how I have felt today. Chad and Jen had to take Lorelei to the hospital in the middle of the night last night. She was running a high fever and they have so far diagnosed her with some type of bacterial sickness. I will always say that little Drew Prosser feels just as much mine as Jen's and I can say the same for little Lorelei. So today this friend is a little more prayerful. I pray God's healing on a tiny one that just made it into this world. I pray comfort for her parents and calmness for her brother. I kissed on that sweet Drew Prosser a little more today for his mommy since she couldn't. I believe that there are reasons for everything we walk through. So as my friends walk through this I will pray for reasons and healing. Reasons we can't see right now but pray knowing He will take care of them.

Tis the Season!

The tree is up and finally decorated! The kids are decked out in their Christmas clothes. My house smells like a real tree....aaahhhh I am in the spirit of Christmas. They are just so darn cute aren't they? I might be biased because they are mine! :) Merry Christmas everyone! Take time to enjoy it this year. I am working hard at doing that myself!

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves

I am putting Kennedy down for her nap (in her big girl bed again, she did great last night) and I go into our room and open the blinds and this is what I see. Robin Hood Prince of Thieves in my own backyard!! Susan and Bruce are getting the kids a swing set for Christmas and it is in the process of being made. I don't think they had this in mind for its use! Those of you who know me at all know I am not the outdoorsy type. Cindy and Anna had to make me get dirty growing up and I didn't like it! :) So how in the world did I end up with my sweet Robin Hood?!!! Love works in crazy ways, huh?

A bloggable moment for Kennedy

This is just for Kennedy...disregard if you are not interested!

You are in your big girl bed for the first time tonight! After a series of events yesterday we knew it was time. I will not blog about those events. It might be too much to share. I put you to bed tonight and you said, "Lay by me Mommy!" and we read your potty book. It is your favorite book! You are now fast asleep in that big old bed (twin size so huge!) and I can't quit going in and just looking at you. You are growing up too fast! Almost two and I feel like you are turning 16! I'll let you grow up Kennedy because I have no choice but please always know that I cherished ever moment you grew. Even nights like these when I couldn't believe how you have grown and can't stop just looking at you. My sweet miracle in a big girl bed! I love you!
