First I would like to say that I am so proud of myself for having time to blog tonight. I have been crazy busy getting ready for school tomorrow. I even have Greg stapling papers tonight. Kennedy would be helping but she is fast asleep right now.
My mom called today and told me a strange story. I must preface this with the fact that those of you who have not been blessed enough to meet crazy phil, need to know she is truly a special soul. :) She is on a work vacation with my dad in Palm Beach, FL. She went for a swim this morning and swam laps for a while. She was getting out of the pool and sees a giant piece of poop. It turns out that a giant iguana had been getting in the pool and pooping. Apparently iguana's have huge size poop. She ended up getting the stay for free for her pain and suffering of dealing with the iguana poop. She will probally make up a corny joke about it and tell it forever.
My dear friend Liza hates PT cruisers and today her rental car pulls up and guess what it is? PT cruiser. I got a good laugh out of that.
Greg made me laugh so hard I cried tonight and I can't even remember what it was about. Maybe I am loosing my mind.......
Kennedy's favorite pastime lately is peek-a-boo. She really looks for the one hiding. Her favorite book is Pat the Bunny and for those of you familiar with it, she loves the peek-a-boo with Paul page. She really loves to find Paul everytime! That was our night-night book tonight.
Wish me luck tomorrow. I am off to educate the children of America. They will all be smarter just being in my class. Go to bed early Lauren!
You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. ~Desmond Tutu

7 Months Old!!!

Today is Kennedy's 7 month birthday. We took these pictures today. The sun was so bright she keep closing her eyes! I cannot believe how fast this year is flying by. I keep looking at her thinking how big she is getting. It makes me sad. I want to hold on to her babyhood. I look forward to all the things she will do in life, but right now I just love to snuggle with my little baby while she is sucking her thumb or smiling up at me and giggling. 7 months seems so close to 1 year. Is there a way to make time stand still? It is amazing how fast this year is going and the years we waited to get her here seemed to inch by.
School is going good. It will take me a while to get used to working again. My mom doesn't have to go back for a few more weeks. I am jealous! I have had a few incidents at work this week, one being a mean lady at work asked me if I was pregnant again. I mean really, is she seriosly ill? I was very mad for a few days and then realized that I really don't care what she thinks anyways. She wears very ugly clothes.
I got my first massage today. Very interesting. Greg got it for me for mother's day and I just used it. It was very relaxing!

That is all of my inspiration for today. Maybe I will have more tomorrow!

I made it!
Well it is official! I made it through my first day of working. I survived dropping Kennedy off with Miss Michelle. It makes it much easier to drop your child off when you can leave her all snuggly in her PJ's with someone giving her kisses and loving on her as you leave. She did have a little trouble eating today. Drew and Kennedy both refused to take their bottles this morning. I like to think they talked about it and decided if they both refused maybe we would come back faster! :) She did break down and finally eat and was very excited to see me when I picked her up. I am very worn out because I went to bed at my summer bed time and Kennedy started waking up at 5:45 this morning. I am currently in my bed typing this and I don't think I will leave it until tomorrow! I know you are disapointed in me Lauren! I will have to post some pics tomorrow. It has been a couple days since I have blessed you with new K Pup pics. Have a good day!

Best Friends

This is my last official post of the day. I know I have written way to much about little K pup today but I have one more thing to share. Kennedy had the most fabulous day today. Greg and I kept asking her why she was in such a good mood. It continued until she could no longer keep her eyes open anymore tonight. She has started to take notice of Riley lately and today she kept giggling whenever Riley walked in the room. She would shake her arms and giggle. We took a few pics of them together. And I was worried how Riley would react to her. So far so good!
Foot in Mouth

Kennedy found her feet about a month ago. She was very interested in them for a while and then just gave up on them I guess. Today she became very interested in them again and stuck those bad boys right in her mouth! I found in quite ironic that she was wearing her, "If you think I am cute you should see my aunt" onsie that Aunt Courtney gave her. Courtney hates feet!
YUCK!

So last night I did something I never wanted to ever do. I, Katie Susan Sartin Olliff, opened a container of green bean baby food and fed it to my daughter. I will tell you that the green beans have been in the pantry for a while now. It took a lot of courage for me to open them. Greg even offered to feed them to her, but I said no, I needed to face my fear. For those of you who have missed this part of my life, I hate only 2 things in life, green beans and slugs. I can deal with the rest! I have a long history of being chased with green beans, people putting them on my plate and watching me scream, my teacher taping them to the inside of my locker as a joke, and many more. I have gotten past the point that they really disgust me, as I can tolerate others eating them, but the smashed up baby food version seems totally gross. Well, I know you are all dying to know how my precious Kennedy Susan reacted and it is so sad. I was so disappointed! She actually smiled!! I think she loves them. She ate them and was really excited to do so. I couldn't believe it! So, I conquered my fear. I can now face the world and i have realized one new thing in the world of parenting. I can have plans for her, and dreams that I want her to accomplish, but she is going to choose her own way. She will follow her own star. And the first step to independence was the day she choose to like green beans! Maybe I should put this in her baby book........

Backyard Fun!

Well it is official. I have been married 5 whole years! Greg and I went to Savannah and a nice dinner Friday night. I even got creme brule, which is my most favorite! :) I am currently trying to make the most of my last few days of summer. I bought one of those obnoxiously redneck backyard pools for Kennedy. We just spent some time in it this afternoon. I plan on coming home from work and taking a little swim with her! She loves the water! Greg asked me today what I would have done if she hated the water. I think that would be tragic. She even loves to be splashed in the face. That is what she is doing in one of the pics. :) I hope you all have a great week! We will be doing nothing but playing for the next two days!

Pool time!

Kennedy and Aiden had a great day at the pool today. Aiden is my friend Sandra's little one. They had some quality play time before at Mema's and then they were off to the pool to float in their crabs! After about 20 minutes Kennedy was ready for a nap and Aiden was not far behind her. Sandra and I actually got a few minutes to ourselves I think! I am trying to make the most of the rest of summer. We only have a short time left! Sad!

Ode to the nomads
I must first define my term nomad. One might look it up in the dictionary and find the definition saying something like, "people who move from place to place with no permanant home." I do not define it in this way. I will use the term nomad here to define the ones in my life that I have seen go place to place in search of their dreams. I was talking to Liza the other day and she mentioned something about where life was going to take her. I have this conversation with many people in my life. I often wonder how I can even relate to each of my friends stuggling with the same question. I watch them travel the world and it doesn't even phase me. Who else has a best friend that calls and says that she is moving to China and doesn't even bat an eye and says, "I was waiting on you to say that." It was just normal. I watched my dear lifelong friend move from college to college to college to college (did I say enough colleges? correct me if I am wrong) and then finally find the perfect place for her. I often go back to the song by the Dixie Chicks, Taking the long way, I will now try to quote it a bit please ignore that it doesn't go exactly as the song is sang, " I hit the highway in my pink rv with stars on the ceiling, live like a gypsy, its been a long time gone now, maybe someday I'm gonna settle down, I always find my way somehow taking the long way." I dedicated it to Courtney last summer because when I heard it I thought of her instantly. Minus the pink RV. Maybe you should buy one jerk! So today as I sit in my little Statesboro, GA home I want all my little nomads in my life to know how much I admire each of you. You might have taken the long way, only because God has led you that way, but each place is an adventure. My parents made me take that road when they made that horrible :) decision to move to Georgia and take me away from all I knew. I would never have met many of my dear friends and I wouldn't be married to Greg and my precious Kennedy would not exist! I want you all to know that I enjoy walking through your lives with you. I enjoy each step you take as it brings you closer and closer to your dreams. My you always reach for the plan God has for you! I love you all!
Worn Out!

Kennedy had her 6 month pictures today. We put her in 2 outfits and a million poses. I hope they turn out cute! She was getting worn out with pictures and then Greg showed up which got some more smiles out of her! She loves her daddy! Then we went to lunch with Fun Sarah and she fell asleep on the way home. She is currently in the position of the picture as I type this. That is a worn out baby! She still has on her picture outfit! Wouldn't it be nice to nap that hard during the day?

I love shopping!
So i went to Hilton Head today with my mom and Kennedy to do a little back to school shopping. I would just like to say that I truly enjoy a day of shopping. It is food for the soul. That is all of my inspiration today. I will be more thoughtful tomorrow! I have to go because the singing bee show is on and for those of you who know Greg, it is very funny to watch people like Greg try to sing the words to a song that don't know them at all! :) That is a good time riding around with him in the car, listening to him mumble all the words acting like he knows them! Sandra and I used to laugh at him so hard! Who would have thought I would end up falling in love with the boy who couldn't ever sing the right words to a song? Funny how things end up!
By the way, just watched the show and it is really stupid, but made me think of good memories of Greg in college! Worth the laugh!

A long, long,time ago.....
So for those of you who know, I am sure you all remember, Greg and I will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary this friday. I cannot believe how fast these years have gone by. It seems like yesterday we were moving into our little red barn. I miss the barn! Good times were had by all there! Aahhh the barn parties....... My point here is that each and every one of you that were a part of my wedding need to observe Friday as a holiday. You must take out my wedding photos, you should all have at least one, and take a moment to bask in my glory with me. You might scream, look at my hair! or gosh Katie was so small back then! or why did I wear that to the rehearsal dinner? (not pointing any fingers at anyone, but Courtney you could have chosen something different than Cindy, right? :) but the main point here is to remember the good times we had that weekend and know that I still look back and cherish all of you being there. And to those my dear new friends I have made since them, some of whom I will now name as my honorary bridesmaids, you must also set aside Friday as a holiday. Just because you couldn't make it years ago doesn't mean you can't celebrate the day! July 20th should always be a happy day for everyone! And those of you who know me, know I tend to be a bit bossy! So I happy 5th anniversary to everyone! Congrats on making it through with us!

GOOD NEWS!
So, I have good news! I am so proud to announce that there will be a baby Smith coming some time in January. Yes, that is right folks, my dear friend, Fun Sarah, is officially pregnant and out of the pregnancy closet. She has been in hiding for a while, but we can now share her exciting news with the world. I am superpumped about it! We will be expecting the superfun baby around the end of January. I think she is due the 25th, but I am a firm believer of being induced a week early. There is no need to go to 40 weeks. Unless you are Jennifer, and just want to! :) I nicknamed Sarah, Fun Sarah, a long time ago because she is just so fun, which is the reason for my many fun references. She deserves them all! I personally have had a vision that it is a boy and we will find out soon. I look forward to watching her grow to huge sizes! :) What fun!
I am so amazed at God's blessings. I looked at Kennedy today and thought about all that we went through to get her here. I don't think about it everyday, but it is so neat to look at her now and remember what a true miracle it is to have her here. I can't wait to meet Fun Baby Smith. I call them our hold-it babies. I think my mom started that name. We have our angel babies and then God waits to give us those sweet ones to hold. I can't wait to hold Fun Baby Smith. I think I will name it Fun Baby for short. What a blessing! By the way, I put another pic of our hold-it babies from this weekend. Drew and Kennedy already like to dress alike! :) We will have to add Fun Baby next year!
On a lighter note, Riley got in serious trouble today. She is obsessed with killing Kennedy's rubber ducky. She has a few squeaky toys that she plays with in the bathtub. I gave Kennedy a bath and I heard a clump in the bathtub when I was putting on her pajamas. Riley jumped in to kill the duck. What am I going to do with her? Courtney, do you really want her?
Only a week and a half left of summer for the school teachers around here. I am going to spend the week enjoying my time left! To those of you in Statesboro, the $.88 markers are at walmart again. Don't miss out the price goes up if you wait until school starts! I bought mine today and 3 different people asked if I was a teacher and then commented on the fact that I was spending my own money on so many markers. If only they knew that was just the beginnining...
Have a good Monday everyone!

Fun in the sun

Well, we made it back from our vacation. Kennedy had a blast at the beach for the first time. She loved to sit in the surf and watch the waves. She also loved spending so much time with her best friend Drew. Drew is my friend Jennifer's son, he is 3 months older than Kennedy. It is fun to watch them interact with each other. He snatches toys and then she gently takes them back. They repeat this a million times a day! :) I have included some of my favorite pictures of the two of them this week. We had a few photo sessions. I will post more later. I am worn out!

This blogging thing is fun! I was thinking today that I have so much inspiration everyday that I need to share and this is a great way to share! Why did I not listen to Liza earlier........ I included a pic of Kennedy from the 4th. I am trying to figure out this picture thing!
Something great happenned to me yesterday. I mean great on a huge scale. I have been waiting on this day since I put my first pair of maternity pants on last July. Ok, I know you are holding your breathe in great suspense.........I, Katie Susan Sartin Olliff, got really brave and took out my trusty old size 6 Jcrew pink pants that I love and dearly missed, tried them on and...........THEY FIT! Yes, folks, I said they fit!! I know this sounds like something small, but I have been waiting on this day for some time. I then began trying on every size six in my closet and each pair slid right on. Some where a too bootylicious, but they went on, which is a huge thing for me. I still have a ways to go, but my fav pants are now worthy to be worn in public and I can stand, sit, run, do whatever I want to in them! :) It only took me 6 months to accomplish this. Half a year......well worth the wait!
May you share in my joy the rest of the day. I celebrated by making brownies. :)

This is my very first blog and I officially dedicate it to my dear friend Liza. She has inspired me to step into the 21st century and get myself out on the web! I would also like to give credit to my friends Anna and Cindy, whose blogs have also inspired me to create my own. I don't get to talk to them as much and I have enjoyed keeping up with them this way. So to my dear friends, thank you for inspiring me.
I am currently recovering from a visit from the fam, Blake, Tonya, Henley, Lander, Paisley, Mom, Dad and of course Patrick. They were all here for a few days. We had a good time. I took two naps yesterday after they left. I must be worn out! Kennedy is suffering from a cold and is currently working on 3 hours for her nap. She is worn out as well! It was good to get to spend some time with all of them. The kids have grown up so much! I will post some pics when I figure out how to do that.
Ok that is all for now. I will write more after I figure out how to navigate this bird...
