20 Months and a day of fun with the girls!

Kennedy is 20 months old now! She is such a fun little girl to be around! I realized recently that I haven't had as much one on one time with her as I used to get. I have a lot of help around here and I have had a lot of time to snuggle little Whit while Kennedy is off having fun. It is pretty rare that I get to spend time with just her. So when Greg said he had to work down south and we should go spend a few days in Darien I jumped on the chance to drag old MeMe to the beach and spend a day with Kennedy!

So, I got to spend the morning and lunch with two of my favorite girls in my life, my "mommy", and my Kennedy! Kennedy LOVES the beach. Her eyes light up when you talk about it. So, the three generations of women in my family packed up and spent a day of fun in the place we all love the most! Life really is the best relaxing on the beach! It was nice to have all my focus on her for a few hours. I think she really appreciated it! She was so involved in digging in the sand she barely talked to us!
At 20 months:
*You love to sit in your "big girl" chair (the stool at the kitchen counter)
*Your favorite thing to eat is "yogurt bites" You will not stop talking about them! You also really love "tatoes" as you call them!
*You are obsessed with the potty
*You play like it is work.
* You love anything to do with babies! (all of Whit's things are always buckled because you come behind me when I take him out and buckle everything!)
* You make us laugh so hard we might cry at least once a day with the things you say and do. :)
*You love to GO! Anyone that asks you if you want to go, you wave that little hand and say "bye mommy!"
* You are talking so much I am scared of what is going to come out next!
You bring my life great joy sweet Kennedy!

Here is how Whit spend his day while we were at the beach. Snuggled up next to his Pops. I left him like this and when I came back he was in the same position!

Guess who pooped in the potty!!!

That's right my dear friends, Kennedy has had her first experience with pooping in the potty! WOW!! She has been obsessed with potties so I went and bought her one just to play around with. We were at my parent's house and I saw the look in her eyes like she was going to poop. Greg took her to the bathroom and put her on the potty and she pooped! He said she was super confused about the whole situation. I am not necessarily potty training but we are going to work on talking about it and taking her when she asks to go. She needs to work on knowing when she needs to go. She tells us a lot of times after the fact. I think she is off to a good start! Way to go Kennedy!

I've fallen and I can't get up!!

Seriously, I did fall and for a day I could not get up! Here's how the dramatic fall happened. I was leaving to go to Darien for a few days. I had everything in the car and was taking out the diaper bags. Kennedy was at the top of the steps right inside the house and I was walking out into the garage carrying Whit. Next thing I know I am on the ground in pain with a little baby staring up at me. I am still amazed at how your insticts are to protect your child and not yourself. My ankle gave out on me and I had a hard time getting up but I made it. I found myself in horrible pain with two babies and a car packed to go. What was I to do? I grabbed some ice, my babies and off we went to Darien. Along the way Whit got a little fussy so I had to stop to put his paci back in. I was on 16 with NOWHERE to stop so I pulled off on an exit ramp and jumped out ( I was literally jumping on my good foot) when I saw my dog fly out of the car and go running down the exit ramp to the interstate! Are you kidding me? Somehow I got superhuman strength and snatched her up and threw her back in the car. We made it to my parent's house. I could not walk at all the rest of the day. I ended up using a cane to walk because it was that or walk next to a wall holding myself up! I called my personal physical therapist, Anna, :) and she told me to ice it and see if it got any better. I woke up Friday feeling a little better and could put some pressure on it. Then my knee started hurting on the other leg and I realized I hit that pretty hard too. Why me? I have TWO very small children and I cannot be limping around! I am feeling much better now. Hopefully it will heal ok. I am just going to limp around until it feels better I guess. We did have a great time after all the drama was over. I have lots of fun pics to share. I will post those soon!

Look who's smiling!!

Yes, that's right folks, Whit has officially entered the world of smiling! While this picture is not the best example (I do not like pictures taken of babies where you can see up their noses...why so many people take those I do not understand) but I grabbed my camera really fast when he started smiling trying to catch it. This is his official third smile of the day. Yes, I am counting them right now! I caught the end of it. I promise I'll try to catch a better one soon. I know you have nothing else to do but wait on that! He smiled this morning at Kennedy and me when he was sitting in his bouncy seat. We were apparently very funny today! Welcome to the world of smiling little Whit. In keeping with the blog name, smile, it does really make life better. Now you all have to smile really big right now!

Whose baby loves tummy time? MINE! :)

Here's how this works.....Whit starts crying. It might look something like this.....He is so mad he is curling his tongue so he can cry louder!!!
I immediately pick him up, love on him, (still crying) turn him over and he does this....
Happy baby! Crazy isn't it? I discovered this new like for my little one yesterday. So sweet! He looks like he is so overwhelmingly happy that I figured out what he wanted he was so stressed out!
I took this one last night and it was too sweet not to share. Look how little he is! And those puppy slippers are one of my favorites!

Church take two!

It is hard to resist these two when they are all dressed up! I do love babies in their church clothes. :) Kennedy always enjoys holding her brother. It will be while before we get a nice one without my arm in the background!
I look at them together now and wonder why I was so worried I was ruining Kennedy's life. She looks so sad doesn't she? How I do love these children!

Where's Whit?

Can you find him? Look really hard! :) Kennedy decided that it was time for Whit to play with some toys. I have all her baby toys in Whit's room ready for him when he discovers he has hands. She likes to go pull them out every once in a while. Tonight she apparently wanted to show him all of them. He is going to have lots of fun when he discovers those sweet hands of his!

And a pic of my my first sweet baby. I told her she was mommy's baby tonight and put her in the boppy. She was so proud! She is still in it 20 minutes later! Sweet baby!
