We can't wait to meet you Lorelei! Come join this fun!

She might want to wait a while after she sees this! We had a shower for Jen and baby Lorelei Saturday at my house. My cleaning lady came Monday so my house was clean I just had to pick up a little. The boys were in town for their golfing weekend so all the babies got to come to the shower. I thought that was no big deal......

I was ready by 9:15 and the shower started at 10:00. All the other hostesses were getting here about 9:45. Brad and Beth stayed with us for the weekend so Beth was here to help. Somehow it was 9:45 in a flash and I had a million things to do. Jen got here with Drew and he started fussing. Kennedy saw Drew crying and decided she should start crying too. She was so clingy she would not let me put her down. She never does that, especially at her house. Whit was swinging and good thank goodness! Sandi was my life saver at helping me out. She even took out my trash and walked Riley next door in the pouring rain. THANK YOU Sandi! While she was taking Riley Kennedy and Drew were still screaming and Lillian decides to fall out of a chair and bust her lip open. Blood pouring out of her mouth, she is now crying. Kennedy is still crying.....what in the world? We fixed up Lillian, got Sandi back to her, and I finally got the kids settled down to a little Curious George in my room. Did I mention that it was time for Whit to eat and he should have been screaming but he wouldn't have been heard doing that so I guess he decided to be good! I got him fed and I think I was there for some of the shower. We did finally turn the focus to sweet little Lorelei. She got lots of pretty pink frilly things! I think shower was just representative of the life she is going to enter into. It is truly crazy around here! Oh and I thought it would be sweet to have all the kids in their matching fall outfits. This is my attempt at a picture of the four of them. That would be Drew's hiney flying off the bed! So much for my cute picture!

Kennedy and her Lily as she refers to her. They were actually playing together. It was the first time I have really seen them interact with each other. So sweet!!

K and Drew were happy for a few minutes while watching George together!

All on the same level!

Whit has been enjoying the floor lately. It is much harder to give him the time to play than it was for Kennedy with all the other little feet running around my house. I did have to get on to her the other day because she absolutely refused to leave him alone while he was playing under the play gym. Our rule is that she has to sit on her bottom to play with him. Bad things happen when a toddler stands and peers over a little baby. We are much better off leaning in from a sitting position. The impact would not be as bad if anything happened! Whit was playing on the floor and Drewbie and Kennedy decided they might light to join him. Look at Drew's skills! He is so advanced!

My sweet child....is she like me or Greg?

Today we all slept in. My house usually is up and running by 7:00 and at 7:45 this morning Whit decided it was time to wake us up. Kennedy slept until about 8:00! I love fall break! :) From the moment my precious child's feet hit the floor this morning she was talking. And not like the usual Kennedy banter it was a nonstop talk fest until I finally got her to take a nap. Here are some examples.

I turn on Hi-Five and they starting singing she yells, "DANCE! DANCE!" as she twirls around. I wish I had reason to dance like that!
"Whit look at me! Look at me!! Whit look at me!"
Greg walks by "Daddy walking!" Really....we didn't notice that!
I am sitting on the floor playing with Whit and talking on the phone. She takes a wipe sticks it down the back of my pants and says, "Yucky hiney mommy! Shew! Yuck!"
Greg: "Kennedy would you like to help with the fax machine?"
K: "Help DaDa? Come on." Paper comes out, "here DaDa!"
Greg: "Can I have a fruit snack?" She stuffs the last one in her mouth then puts her hand in her mouth to retrieve it and says. "Want some DaDa?" knowing full well he didn't want that one!

I wish I could remember more. She kept us laughing all morning. I even asked her if she was on crack and she replied, "Kennedy crack?" I won't be saying that anymore!

We are off to the wonderful fair parade this afternoon and then to the fair tonight. She is going to love it. :) Whit is tagging along too. I am sure he will enjoy it too! Our weekend was great. I will post pics later. The shower was an experience with all the little ones around. That will be a blog in itself!

12 Weeks!!

Well little Whit is 12 weeks today! He is not so little anymore although he is still my little sweet baby. :) He is changing by the day. It goes by so fast and I want to really cherish it. They say with your second you miss so much but I don't feel that way. He has fit into our household and made sure he was known. Everyone enjoys him so much it is hard to miss out on him when he is around. He will charm anyone with his sweet smile. And MeMe, those eyes are definitely brown now! I would like to apologize to him about the nice pink background in the picture. He was playing on Kennedy's quilt in her room. I am sure there will be a lot of pink in his life!

I am still surviving at work. I joke and say I am the most well rested teacher there (although I still don't sleep through the night). They are all burnt out and ready for a break. I have only worked 4 days and we get a week off next week! YAY!! I have found it is not so bad to go back. It is always so hard that first day but once I get that behind me I can do this. I have to remind myself I only work 190 days. There are a lot more in the year than that! We have a busy weekend ahead....The GJGC is in town for their big golfing weekend which brings Brad and Beth and baby Harris to our house. Greg is beside himself with excitement. He and Brad have a seriously strange bond....:) We are also showering baby Lorelei at my house on Saturday. It will be fun to bring on all the pink!!! I do love pink! :) I'll post pics soon! Have a great weekend!

The sweetest sound I've ever heard!

Well, I survived my first day back. I got up fine, left fine, got to Michelle's fine and started crying when I had to hand him over. I knew he would be fine. It is just so hard to let him go for the first time! Kennedy said, "bye mommy, see you later mommy!" I don't need to worry about her do I? Michelle said he did great and for that I am so thankful. She loves my babies and I wouldn't want them anywhere else. Kennedy loves her Michelle! We got home and Whit was in the greatest mood. He smiled at us through our whole dinner tonight. Then when I gave him a bath tonight he laughed at me. It was my reward I think for surviving my day. I of course cried again....that first laugh is truly the sweetest sound I have ever heard!

On second thought...

Ok, yesterday I was fine. Today I was fine. Then I took Whit and Kennedy next door to swing. She was laughing, Whit was all cuddled up in his sling and I started to cry. It was like it was my last moments with them forever. We came in for lunch and had a nice conversation about broccoli, roni and Barclay hitting his head on the swing set (she thought that was really funny). I started to cry again. It was like it was my last lunch with her ever. I am going to make it. My children are going to make it. Maybe I just needed a good cry. I said it was easier but now I don't think so. I have to leave both of them now! Two sweet babies that love me with their whole heart as much as they know how, I have to leave! I am going to make it right? I am, I am, I am.......

Farewell my sweet maternity leave!

Well they say that all good things must come to an end. Tomorrow is my last official day of maternity leave. I am back to work on Monday! Gone are the days of wearing my pajamas until I felt like changing into real clothes. That might happen after noon or before depending on my mood of the day. :) It is funny the difference in my time away from school this time as opposed to last time. I had Kennedy and was so worn out! I thought it was so hard. Then I realized it wasn't that hard at all! Life with one child is a breeze! This time would actually be the harder one because I am chasing a toddler around all the time too! No sleeping until 9:00 because I got up in the middle of the night a million times. My sweet Kennedy awakes a little after 7:00 and thinks the rest of the house should get up too! I am so thankful Whit has been such a good baby. He was a good sleeper from the start. We are down to a 3:30 feeding and then he sleeps until about 7:00 which will work perfectly with my work schedule. I will have to wake him up a little earlier to eat but he should be fine with that. I will say that I have enjoyed my time off to the fullest. I have rocked my sweet baby as much as I wanted. I have stared at him endlessly until I thought I really need to get up and do something! I have had lots of good lunches with friends. One of the things I will miss most is my breakfast time with Kennedy every morning. She helps me cook something, make coffee and we sit and talk while Whit takes his morning nap. I feel like I have gotten some stolen moments I wasn't going to get with her while I have been out. We've had picnics at the park, days playing at home, and I have really enjoyed her. I thought I would get so much less time with her and I actually got more! My sweet little Whit has become a little person lately. He is starting to enjoy us and I love it! I am sad about leaving him but I have a better knowledge of what will happen this time. I know he will still remember me. I know he will get a million kisses a day while I am gone by Miss Michelle. I know he will be taken care of and loved. That is the only reason I am ok to go back. Tomorrow I might not shower until 4:00 and we all might stay in our pajamas all day. I might rock my baby instead of putting him in his crib to nap just because I can. Then the weekend will come and Monday will be here before I know it. I'll get up, pack up everyone, and off we will go. I might cry huge tears but you know what? I'll survive and so will they. It is a good feeling knowing that. Oh and then I will have a week off the next week for fall break! It works out nicely doesn't it? :) Say a prayer we all survive which I know we will!
Oh, I meant to explain the pictures. The one on the right was taken first. He was so cute in his lil punkin outfit. Then he began to projectile vomit everywhere....aaahhh! I rushed him and Kennedy inside. She was screaming because she wanted to stay out and play and didn't understand why we were coming in. I gave him a bath and put the other sweet outfit on. It is super cute! It even has fuzzy lamb feet and a tail in the back!
