14 Months

I have to think hard to answer the "How old is he?" question. One, is usually my reply. With Kennedy it was 13 1/2 months or whatever the round half or whole was. How silly...:) I think he is very unconcerned about my lack of keeping up with his age. He is busy growing into a little boy and that involves getting into EVERYTHING around here.

I think I enjoyed each stage K has walked through. I remember at this point thinking about how grown up she was. I blogged about her becoming a little girl. I don't think I pushed her through any stage. I really feel like I enjoyed each one. With Whit I find myself lingering in the stages. I guess as much as I tried to soak it all in with K I wanted to see her grow. I started to view her as my older child at this point because by now I was halfway through my pregnancy with Whit. I treat Whit like my baby. Oh, he is just the baby...that is heard a lot around here. I love that waddle. I wish, wish, wish, I could keep it in my mind forever. All too soon he will be running and I will forget. I think my knowledge this time makes me try to soak it in a little more. I probably baby him a little too much. I am totally ok with that. He is my baby. And I think he is pretty stinking precious.

Here is what Whitty is into these days....
*Balls of any kind
*GOLF! He always has a club in his hand in the yard
*Talking: He is the king of one word demands....bite, ball, dog...we also hear a LOT of DA...or BA...which mean nothing but that he wants to say what he is pointing to but doesn't know the word or can't say it. I speak fluent Whit so I can figure out a few things but to the average ear it is DA and BA! He can tell you where his hair is and his toes. He is completely uninterested in the rest of his parts I am trying to teach him. He can show you his shoes. He does not care to make animal sounds. Occasionally you will get a moo or woof but he really doesn't like to do that. SuSu taught him ribbit which comes out as a deep voice roar...but he is saying ribbit. You have to speak fluent Whit to understand that as well. He can say Dew and Jack and I think that is sweet. He has friends. :) I guess Lorelei and Kennedy are a bit harder to say! :)
*He is so good at following directions. This amazes me. I think it is because K still doesn't do it. Whit came to me with something to throw away and says Da! I say, "Go put it in the trash." He walks to the trash and throws it in. He is a smart boy. :)
*He climbs. I think he would be on the counter if he could figure that out.
*"SIDE" this is Whit's version of outside. He goes to the door and yells, "side!" When I mention these one syllable words you need to picture a baby barking a demand. Everything he says is a demand. He yells it. SIDE! Ok, ok, we're going! ;)
*He is now walking very fast. It is close to a run, but he falls on a regular basis. When he sees a step he sits down to go down. So cute...:)
*He gives the best kisses and hugs.
*He is a champion food thrower. We are discussing the importance of keeping your food on your plate. I have also discussed with him the fact that there are not dogs at restaurants to clean up under him. He doesn't care. He still throws.
*He is learning to use a spoon and is pretty good at it.
*He is good at making us happy. He makes everyone in this house a little happier when he is around. Even Riley's life is better with him here. We love you, sweet Whitty Whit.

As always, he is on the go!

I am so, so blessed to have this baby in my life. I wanted a girl so badly. I think all women want a girl deep down. Then when you have a little boy you realize how much you needed him. We need that calmness in this house. Whit has fit into this family and made it feel whole. I am so thankful I didn't have time to worry about ever having a second child. I was just given him. I don't know what great thing I did to deserve him, but I do know I am grateful. Thank you God, for filling my home with these precious little feet. 14 months ago I was worried about how I would make it.....would I be a good mom to two? I don't know how good I have been but my kids seem to be making it. And each day that passes I know that I am blessed. I am so, so proud to be your mommy, Whitfield Daniel. I love you!

Precious

I am so tired today I could barely make it to my car after school. There are good days and harder days. Today was one of those draining days. I came home, went straight to my pajamas and instantly felt better. These two kiddos make me feel better no matter what is going on. So in honor of that here are a few sweet pics I have taken over the past few days.....

Sweet K

He's getting pretty good at it!

Loving on little bro! Today, Whit hit Kennedy. I went and told him to go tell her he was sorry and give her a kiss. He waddled over to her with his arms wide open and gave her the biggest hug while going mmmmmmm for a kiss. Precious.

A lady

I met a lady today. She didn't know me at all. After talking for a while she figured out which "olliff" I was. Then we started talking and she said, "I remember praying for you to have a baby." She asked me if I had lost my first baby. Yes. Then she asked me if I had trouble getting pregnant. Yes. She had been told my story and prayed for me to have a child. Over three years later we meet and I cried a little. The power of prayer is amazing. I think so often we pray and pray for things and don't realize who else is out there praying for us. When good things happen we don't instantly think, who prayed for us? We are just thankful. So, today, I am thankful to all of those who prayed for my children. Many of you were my prayer warriors and I cannot thank you enough. Maybe in this life, I can be worthy to our Lord of all I have been given. I am thankful for this life. I say it a lot here but there are days that I don't remember to be thankful. Yet, in it all, I know what miracles I feed each day. I know what a miracle it is to watch my kids run around my house. They are a testament of the power of prayer and I am a thankful mommy. So, wherever you are in life, know that there are people out here praying for you. And who knows? Someday you might meet the lady that prayed for you and didn't know you. And you might cry and give her a hug like I did.

I love.....

I love when Kennedy holds my hand.

I love when I get Whit out of the car and he pats me on the back so sweetly, as if to say, "thanks Mommy!"

I love when Kennedy says randomly, "I'm your little girl, Mommy." Yes, my dear you are.

I love when Whit laughs hysterically at us. It is so genuine. There is nothing like the laughter of a child.

I love when K says, "This is OUR family, mommy, daddy, Kennedy and Whitty Whit." Bless her.

I love to watch Whit toddle. He is so proud of his new skill and it has changed him SO much.

I love when it is just "girls" at times around here. K gets so proud and says, "only girls can do this!" Then you see her beam with pride.

I love when Whit plays with my hair. He is a already a heart breaker that boy.

I love how being a mom has made me a sentimental cry baby. I am totally ok with that.

I love that God blessed me with things I never knew were possible.

I love the days I take the time to enjoy my kids. It is hard some days, but those days are so worth it.

I love to see my kids play with each other. Even when they fight I am thankful. They have each other and I love that we could give them that. I hope they know how special they are to each other.

I love to see how happy Greg makes these children. When he comes home you would think Santa Clause himself just showed up with a bag of toys. They are both SO excited!

I love this life I've been given.

The Princess and her Subjects

When you are a princess life is good. You must wear beautiful dresses and a crown on your head. You still have to take care of your hippo though. Apparently you have to feed them from a bottle while they sit in a chair. :)
Cinderella had to do work didn't she?

When you are a princess you dress your subjects in whatever you want. Today, her subject Whit, was a football cowboy. He was to wear a football jersey and boots. What the princess wants, the princess gets.

Life is good....

Her royal subjects might get tired and take a break to be cute. :)

And after that, he decides to annoy her.
Please take note of how angry the princess is here. The queen had to step in with another chair for the hippo. We have two, princess, not to worry!

With her new throne she is happy again and can take care of that sick hippo.

Then it is time to play!!

Aaahh...the life of a princess. :)

The End
P.S. Kennedy, you make me happy. Love, Mommy

PLAY BALL!

My days with him are numbered I fear. Greg takes Kennedy to do all the "boy" things he loves like hunting and the farm. I spend those days with my precious Whitty just enjoying him. Last night Greg and K were at the farm and I had SO much fun with him. He gets lost in the mix around here at times and LOVES to be the center of attention. He is so fun to be around. I know all too soon he will have on his boots and camo and his daddy with be beaming with pride as he races out the door after him. I'll just enjoy the days I have left I guess!! Whit got a T-Ball set from Aunt Courtney for his birthday. Now that he can walk we decided to break it out. It made Greg happy. I think he is realizing how much fun Whit is going to be. Please refer to the blog above to see why he is wearing this outfit. These pics are priceless. Here is Whit with his first baseball bat!!
Daddy helping perfect his swing! They even had to scoot back a bit because he was a little too close. Really? :)
His first hit!! This was seriously his very first reaction to hitting the ball! Maybe he will be following in those baseball shoes of his Daddy!
I would say beautiful here because that is what I think of this picture. Handsome, I guess is what I should say, but this mommy thinks he is beautiful.

Play ball!!

I LOVE this game!!!

A September Day at the Beach

I love the beach and I love September. It is a perfect combination if you ask me!!! We took a quick trip down south to MeMe and Pops's this weekend. The kiddos had fun! Saturday was a perfect day for the beach. There was a nice cool breeze and the water was still warm. It was truly, truly perfect!! I got to watch my baby toddle around the beach for the first time. Walking is such an amazing thing to see your baby do. What I love so much about the beach is that there really is nowhere you can go that is bad. Water? Ok! Sand and get dirty? OK! Whit was in heaven and those feet took him EVERYWHERE!! He had no fear at all and RAN to the waves. I love these moments. They make the extremed tiredness I felt on Sunday all worth it.

My babies

Whit and his look alike, Uncle Patrick!

Run Kennedy!

Checking it out!
