I wanted to update with Christmas pictures but blogger is not letting me do that today for some reason. You will have to listen to my inspiration from today instead. Sorry ;)
We have searched and searched for the right place for us to go to church. I am not a church joiner. In short, I never 100 % agree with any denomination so I have never joined. I am also very stubborn in my opinions, shocker, so if you try to tell me this a mandatory thing that I must do I am not going to listen to you at all about it. So don't worry about that discussion. That is not the point of this story. We left G's childhood church about 3 years ago. I can't believe it has been that long. We became very involved in another local church and loved it. We helped start a new Sunday School, met such a wonderful group of people, but I still felt something was missing. Greg and I went one day to try out a new church this summer. I felt immediatly at home. It is a brand new church, which if you asked me a year ago if I would go to a church that doesn't even have a buidling I might laugh at you for saying that. All this to say we have been attending there for about six months now, which leads me to today....or maybe I should start with Christmas Eve.
Every year on Christmas we would go to the 11 service. It was such a quiet service honoring the birth of our Savior and I loved it. One of my most memorable ones was on a trip back to Dyersburg for Christmas with my grandparents and we went back to my childhood church for Christmas Eve service. It felt so right to be there. I loved that night so much. Fast forward to now and each Christmas Eve I attend a church of some sort. It has been YEARS since I felt the way I used to feel on Christmas Eve. This year we attended our new church. I watched my baby girl sing her heart out as she was dressed up as an angel. My son held on tightly to me through the whole service. Tears of joy filled my eyes because I knew I was home. Finally. I sent our pastor a message that night of thanks. He took a huge step to start this church. Sometimes when I sit there I am thankful for all the people that began it because they were doing it for ME. I know it is not just for me, but there are seriously moments that I feel like that.
Today, I was spoken to so much during the service. Have you ever breathed in the holy spirit? I know you might think I am crazy, go ahead, because a lot of things I say in life you might think I am crazy. Songs are what get to me in church. I had a moment today where I felt the holy spirit and I breathed in. I was filled. Seriously 100 % filled. As the song played I felt God speak to me. It was a sense of HOME. I was finally HOME. That is something I will forever be thankful for. I hope this year I take the time to breathe in the holy spirit. I hope that as it lives in my I am worthy of all the things Christ did for me. I try everyday to thank God for my MANY, MANY blessings. I am so very blessed and sometimes I worry it is all about to snap or fall away from me. I just have to trust in Him that He will lead us through. All this to say, I want to encourage you to stop and breathe in the breath of heaven. Stop and listen. I am eternally grateful I did today.
Love to you all! :)
